Kimberley Economic Forum attracts world-class speakers
It’s time to act on the opportunities currently being presented by new projects in the Kimberley, and this year’s Economic Forum hosted by the Broome Chamber of Commerce & Industry promises to be an opportunity to equip local businesses with essential information to drive confidence into the future.
The Kimberley Economic Forum will be held at the Mangrove Hotel, October 10 & 11 and this year’s event is crucial for local businesses wanting to be informed and inspired with special guest speakers to put the Kimberley in perspective of domestic and global trends.
It’s time to act on collaboration. The Forum will start with a broad-thinking position as stated by international specialist in regional economies Ifor Ffowks-Williams who will inspire with examples of regional economies which have transformed due to community collaboration and forward thinking.
Designed to drill down into the broad sectors that drive the regional economy, both currently and potentially into the future, the first day of the Forum will feature presentations and panel sessions about the resources, tourism and agriculture sectors.
It’s time to act on technology. Where is the future in small business technology that combats the tyranny of distance? Special guest and futurist Mark Pesce who will inspire with a presentation about the advances of technology and where the world of businesses is headed.
The age of technology has long been upon us yet the speed at which it’s moving is often difficult for local businesses to keep up and with the NBN rollout currently in play many businesses are seeking solutions to their technology connectivity, and how this could help drive efficiencies in the workplace.
A session will be dedicated to an introduction to technology in the workplace with NBN and Leading Edge Computers, followed by a Masterclass for those keen to start transitioning their analogue office to digital.
Drilling down on the current state of the Kimberley’s Economy, on the second day the Forum will study three key influencers driving these sectors including freight & logistics, native title and liveability.
Each session will be guided by two presentations, accompanied by panel speakers relevant to that topic to offer a breakdown of current plans for this space to offer a ‘what, where, who and how’ within their scope of knowledge.
It’s time to act on our skills shortage. Keynote speaker Jack Archer of the Regional Australia Institute will wrap the Forum with examples of regional economies who have transformed into sustainable future through initiative and drive.
It’s expected that the full speaker line-up will be announced by the end of August.

Kimberley Economic Forum Dates have been released
Published, 22 March 2018.
The Kimberley Economic Forum is a partnership between the Chambers of Commerce in the East Kimberley, Derby & Broome, facilitating conversations and networking between trade organisations, government agencies, investors, industry and media. This year it's Broome Chamber of Commerce & Industry's turn to host the interactive program promoting conversations about real issues that affect economic development and progress across the Kimberley Region. We see this event as a key to all who have an invested interest in the Kimberley.
We are pleased to annouce the dates for this years conference on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th October 2018, to be held at The Mangrove Hotel Broome, with pre and post conference events from Tuesday 9th October and Friday 12th October 2018.
This year's forum will be a culmination of many micro-forums, workshops and events held throughout the year, that have addressed industry, business and economic issues in the Kimberley region. The key focus of this year's forum is "shining the spotlight on opportunities and inspiring regional business possibilities". Rather than focus on just a two-day event, our aim is to create an asset that can be shared for broader communication purposes through the production of video packages that dissect different sectors of the region.
The topics will cover key outcomes achieved in Employment and Training, Tourism, Agriculture, Mining and Resources, Construction and Trades, Manufacturing and Logistics and Indigenous capacity building. The topics will be played out individually in between invited speakers.
