Welcome to the 2016 Kimberley Economic Forum
With the Kimberley turning a corner of unprecedented opportunity in the sectors of agriculture, aquaculture and tourism, how can we harness this wild destination and steer it toward a rich and sustainable future? And what opportunities in minerals and energy are there in presenting in the near future?
In 2016, the Kimberley Economic Forum will be held on Tuesday 1 to Wednesday 2 November 2016 at the Derby Sportsman’s Club. The program has been created for businesses to take proactive steps toward capitalising on the opportunities being presented by federal government via the White Paper, and state government via reform and investment.
It will bring together leaders in their field to answer questions such as:
How should we shape our business to meet emerging consumer trends?
What are the emerging trends in tourism that industry can capitalise on?
How will digital disruption affect my business?
What infrastructure and services are essential to break down barriers to doing business in the Kimberley?
The 2016 Kimberley Economic Forum will focus on gaining key outcomes with actions to be led by the Kimberley Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Hosted by the Derby Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Kimberley Pilbara Cattleman’s Association, the 2016 Kimberley Economic Forum is key to all who have an invested interest in the Kimberley.

PROGRAM
Master of Ceremonies: Gerry Gannon
Gerry Gannon is one of Australia’s leading conference facilitators and corporate MCs.
A former radio announcer and journalist, he spent almost ten years working with ABC Radio in Perth, Sydney and Darwin as a Reporter, Producer and Presenter.
Keynote: David Williams, Kidder Williams
“Opportunities in Australian Agriculture: Who is really interested and why?"
David is Managing Director of the Investment Bank Kidder Williams, which specialises in Mergers & Acquisitions in Agriculture, Food and Beverages.
He needs little introduction as he has advised many of Australia’s largest food and agriculture companies including Incitec Pivot, The Australian Wheat Board, CSR, Nufarm, SPC, Tassal, Select Harvests, Bega Cheese, Bulla and many multinationals such as Heineken.
He has been the Adviser to farmer groups such as the Queensland Grain Growers Association and to various governments on the privatisation of Statutory Marketing Authorities. In Queensland alone he advised on the privatisation of the SMA’s in Sorghum, Wheat, Barley, Bulk grains Queensland, Ginger, Navy Beans, Peanuts and the Brisbane Fruit Markets. He has had wide and recent experience in dairy and is well known for being Bega Cheese’s long time advisor the bidder for Warnambool Cheese.
He is not just an Adviser; he is prepared to back himself. He bought, amongst others, the bankrupt salmon producer Tassal for $42m. He refinanced the company and listed it on the ASX turning the business around and merging it with its closest competitor. Tassal is now capitalised at nearly $500 million.
